BOND 92.9FM THE STA TION WITH THE GRASS ROOT APPEAL Bond FM station one of the three FM stations under the then Lagos National Station, RN-1, Metro FM and BOND FM. The station could be traced to about twenty years ago, precisely on the 20th September 1987, when the then Director General, FRCN the late Alhaji Dahiru Modibbo initiated the move to create a language service station in Lagos. This according to him will at least cater for the people coming to Lagos from different parts of the country as the then headquarters of Nigeria. A committee was set up under Engr. Odunsi which recommended the setting-up the station and sourcing the equipment to use with. A transmitter used during the FESTAC 77 was put in placed to start the station of BOND FM was born. The station when it started, it broadcast in three Nigerian major languages Yo rub a, Hausa, Igbo and then pidgin English. When the station started, it was on an old transmitter and old antenna with time, the output started dropping. All the same the station became the household name in Lagos and the neighbouring states. This made it possible that the station generate revenue more than other two stations of Lagos National Station. By the mid 90's the old equipments being used for the station started showing defect in our activities such as programming, revenue generation and the like. |
